At Pierce Manufacturing, we live by a common mantra that every day we do “work that matters.” Every member of the Pierce team contributes to support the brave men and women in the fire service who put their lives on the line to protect their communities.
To us, every step of the fire truck manufacturing and ordering process is personal, from innovation and expertise to customization and service. As a single-source manufacturer, Pierce requires experts in several departments and services lines. We are always looking for more dedicated work professionals from assemblers, electricians, welders and fabricators to engineers.
But why should you choose to work for Pierce Manufacturing? Below, we outline what our team members have to say about working at Pierce.
Our Customers Are Outstanding
“There’s something pretty special about making a product for firefighters and being able to show them exactly how you created the product to meet the needs of their community.”
While it’s certainly not unique to Pierce, there is something special about the ability to work directly with the individuals who place an order for a custom manufactured product.
The ability to connect directly with an end-user and talk with them about how they want the product constructed doesn’t happen in every industry. Pierce team members value the relationships they build with customers and are often excited to show them how they solved a problem or installed certain specifications to meet desired requests. From the first conversation through the delivery of an apparatus, Pierce team members feel privileged to work directly with fire service members.

Experienced and Collaborative Team Environment
The Pierce manufacturing team includes more than 2,300 people in Wisconsin’s Fox Cities area and over 1,000 in outlying facilities, including facilities in Bradenton and Clearwater, Florida.
Pierce’s workforce is quite a remarkable group of people, many of whom have extensive experience. The average Pierce team member has 12 years of experience and twenty-percent of the workforce has 20+ years on the job. In fact, it’s not uncommon to find generations of family members all working together.
The reason for this loyalty is simple; Pierce team members value not only the company and their fellow colleagues, they value the customers and the products they manufacture.

Internal Training and Job Advancement Opportunities
Many of the processes required to build custom apparatus are not things that can be taught in school, which is why Pierce is proud to offer robust training programs for all skill levels.
When an individual joins Pierce in an entry-level role, there are many opportunities to expand and grow within the organization simply by pursuing training opportunities. This is accomplished within the walls of Pierce’s Training Center.
The Pierce Training Center, located in Appleton, Wis., offers team members an immersive training experience. With hands-on training, module training, and real-life simulations, team members are offered extensive tools and programs to enhance their knowledge.
The facility includes a mini assembly line with replications of the hands-on tasks required in the manufacturing process. Trainees are given the tools and instructions required to learn new skills. Not only that, Pierce has invested in virtual training programs, which allow team members to learn skilled tasks, like painting and welding, without wasting valuable materials, supporting Pierce’s sustainability initiatives. Additionally, Pierce team members have access to Your Oshkosh University (YOU), part of Oshkosh Corporation's continuous training program.
Beyond internal training programs, Pierce also offers other valuable programs for prospective and current team members. For example, Pierce offers $10,000 per year in reimbursement for continuing education. This shows the tremendous value Pierce places on growing its internal team to meet the opportunities and challenges of the future.

Safety on the manufacturing floor is of utmost importance at Pierce. From the safety procedures to protect team members to standards to ensure quality workmanship and products, Pierce is leading the industry.
