Irving Fire Department became the first fire department in the state of Texas to complete and be awarded "Best Practices Recognition" status by the Texas Fire Chiefs Association. Irving operates eleven engine companies, four aerial truck companies and eight Mobile Intensive Care Units in eleven strategically located stations.
